Man boobs are a major annoyance many men have to deal with. It can be very embarrassing and limit the types of activities one wants to do or even infer with the type of clothing you wish to wear.

They are two main reasons a man can get breasts.

  • The first and more common reason is excess body fat. Men with excess body fat tend to build up a storage in their chest area giving them the appearance of man boobs. They also tend to become more prominent as men age.
  • The second reason is a hormonal imbalance of your testosterone and estrogen levels. Yes, men do have estrogen and an excess amount can cause you to grow breasts.

Both these issues can be resolved in their own manner.

Man Boobs due to Obesity/Fat

For those who have man boobs because of being overweight, your best solution is reducing your body fat and toning up the muscles on your chest, shoulders and back. This can be done through a healthy diet, cardiovascular exercises or weight training. For the best results we advise doing all three.

Diet

A healthy diet of foods low in fat and sugar is the best way to start your weight loss regiment. Follow basic diet suggestions like small frequent meals to boost metabolism, a cut down in late night snacking and cutting off junk food. These simple suggestions are a good way to shed off excess pounds.

Also increase your intake of water in order to flush your system and decrease water retention.

Cardiovascular Exercises

Cardiovascular exercises are very effective in burning fat. Try a 20 minute workouts at least three times a week. Increase the duration of the workouts as your endurance develops.

Weight Training

Weight training is very helpful in toning your chest area. Try exercises that directly target your lower chest as this is where most of the fat is deposited. Decline bench presses and push ups are a great start.

You can also work the areas around the chest to tighten the skin. In this case your goal is to increase muscle mass. Target your shoulders, chest and back. Do heavier weights and lesser reps. 8 to 10 reps with 3 to 5 sets.

For the sake of toning your chest however you can choose lighter weights and increased reps. For lower chest exercises try 5 sets of 15 reps for each of the workouts. This will tone and condition the targeted muscle areas. You can increase muscle mass in your lower chest to give your boobs a more manlier look. But this has its drawbacks as it could stretch the skin in this area. Which means that if you were ever to lose the muscle, your skin will be droopy in the area.

* Drastic weight loss can cause drooping skin on the chest which will make your man boobs more obvious. So avoid crash dieting or fasting too.

Man Boobs due to Hormonal Imbalance

The other reason a man gets breasts is because of a hormonal imbalance. There are two situations when this may happen. 

The first situation is when you are going through puberty. In which case you will have boy boobs. If you are between 12 to 18 years old and see yourself growing breasts it is just because your hormones are haywire. Unless you are overweight, this imbalance will fix itself as you come out of puberty. So there is nothing much you can do as the problem will resolve itself with time.

However if you are over 25 and see yourself growing breasts you could have a hormonal imbalance that may need attention. Consult your doctor to begin hormone therapy. If you are adamant to seek medical help try natural solutions to increase your testosterone levels. Heavy weight training is a great way to boost your man-hormones. Perform lower body and back exercises for best effect.

Yoga can also help resolve hormonal imbalances. The wheel pose or the shoulder stand are great for stimulating your pituitary glands and regulating the release of hormones. 

Or just have plenty of sex or masturbate excessively (don't strain too hard). Having an erection in general boosts the level of testosterone in your body.
